Build, sell and move on: Expats make it big in India

Contrary to the general practice thus far, the new wave of foreign entrepreneurs hungry for a slice of the Indian consumer’s buck is here to build, sell, and move on. "Our goal is to build the company up and hopefully sell it to a global company like Hertz or Avis," said 30-year-old David Back, an American who founded car rental companyZoomcar in February 2013. "Foreign entrepreneurs closely knitted into the community in India will be able to play a key role in helping those young local entrepreneurs to connect with their global counterparts at the right time and also help with investment and guidance for first time entrepreneurs," said Ruckert, adding that the maturing ecosystem and improved infrastructure in India have made it much easier for expatriates to set up businesses here in recent years.
